Why do I have to take this training?
State law requires that institutions of higher education provide an ongoing information security awareness education program for all users of state-owned information resources. ( TAC §202.77 ) TAMU has elected to fulfill this requisite by requiring that users complete Security Awareness Training annually. ( SAP 24.99.99.M1.19 Information Resources - Security Awareness and Training )What are "information resources"?
Information resources are essentially computing resources. Examples include, but are not limited to TAMU computers, hardware, software, computing accounts, computing facilities (e.g., Open Access Labs), and the network environment. How often must I take this training?
Once a year.If this is required of all students, why haven't any of my friends heard about it?
It is quite possible that other students have not taken the training nor have they received a notification email. Since these emails are sent to a particular group of students each week (in other words, not every student is notified at the same time). Those who haven't been notified to take this training will eventually notified sometime within the year.I already completed this training. Why did I get an email saying I haven't taken it yet?
If you completed the training in the last 24hrs, what probably has happened is the (one week) notification email was sent out before your completion was recorded. If you haven't taken the training this year, you will be required to take sometime during the year.
What happens if I don't complete the training (i.e., don't pass all three short quizzes)?
If you fail to complete this training (i.e., pass the quizzes) by the date indicated in your notification email(s), you will not be able to access critical online resources (e.g., MyRecord, Transportation Services, and Student Ticket Lottery).I missed the deadline. Can I still complete the training and get unblocked from MyRecord?
Yes. You may take the training at any time. Can I have an extension? Can I take this training at a later date?
If there are extenuating circumstances (miltary basic training, out-of-the-country, etc.) that prevent you from completing the required training, please contact the TAMU-ITIM office to discuss the possibility of an extension. How do I know when I've successfully completed the training?
The progress bar at the top of the last page will be completely filled-in (indicating 100%) and the page will say "Congratulations! You have successfully completed the training."I have already graduated. Do I still need to take training?
No.I can't remember my NetID Password. What should I do?
You must visit an Open Access Lab or call Help Desk Central (979-845-8300) and have them mark your account. After your account has been marked, then go to the Neo: Set Password page and create a new password. How do I adjust the size of the font used for the training?
